City centres all over the world are rapidly being privatized . The public domain is under pressure and is losing its quality. While more and more people move to the city, The Flying Grass Carpet aims to grow an awareness of the importance of the public space.
By rolling out The Flying Grass Carpet we deliver instant joy for city-dwellers, but we also show the potential of a place. With The Flying Grass Carpet we hope to inspire city-makers to create urban spaces where people like to stay, feel welcome and can express themselves.
HOW IT WORKS
The Flying Grass Carpet travels around the world. From city to city, staying at each location temporarily.
Once it has landed it will function as a public park. The Flying Grass Carpet is made of Artificial Grass (Astroturf). Each part of the pattern has a different structure, colour and height of grass, making it a three dimensional piece of design.
To be able to transport it, The Flying Grass Carpet consists of different strips. Each strip can be rolled up into a big roll. All the rolls together will be put on a truck or in a container. At the location the strips will be attached to each other, creating one big Carpet. As the Flying Grass Carpet consists of these strips we have the possibility to make it bigger or smaller, matching the dimensions of the location.
